Crofton Athletic Council

Crofton Athletic Council will be offering a youth volleyball program for boys and girls ages 9-14 this fall. We plan on forming teams in the U10, U12 and U14 age brackets, and competing against other local volleyball teams. Practice sessions will be held at Crofton Elementary School on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday evenings between 5:30 and 9:00 PM. Specific practice days and times will be determined by each team's coach.

Home games will be played at Crofton Elementary School. Away games will be played at other local school gymnasiums, which all should be within 30 minutes of Crofton. The final game schedules will be published a week or two before the start of the season. The season will start the first week of Septmeber, and will end before Thanksgiving.

The cost to register for the Fall 2008 program is $75 per player. Please note that a CAC Family Fee of either $50 or $85 per family may also be charged. This fees covers Crofton Athletic Council administrative, insurance and facilities costs. Families that have only one child playing volleyball pay a $50 per year family fee. Families that have more than one child playing volleyball pay a $85 per year family fee. If your child was registered for the Spring 2008 Crofton Volleyball program, then you have already paid the 2008 family fee.

Please note we are always looking for parent volunteers to help as coaches, assistant coaches, or for pre-game setup and post-game take down.

Remove volleyball poles & nets (orange) from PE Equipment Room (back left corner & back shelves)
Remove volleyballs & ball carts from the PE Equipment Room (back left corner)
Set up ball carts and place volleyballs in them
Volley-Lite balls are used for younger age group
Regular volleyballs are used for the older age group
Remove the cover plates from the volleyball pole sockets in the gym floor
Install volleyball poles (4) into the floor sockets. The poles are heavy, please use caution when carrying them!
Attach nets to poles.
- One net should be attached to top brackets for older players
- Other net should be attached to lower brackets for younger players
- The net rope with a loop on the end is attached to the pole with the tightening winch
- The other end of the net rope is tied off as tight as possible to the hooks at the top of the other pole
- To get the nets tight it is best to loop the net rope around the two rollers on the pole with the tightening winch

Put volleyballs into ball bags
Close up the ball carts and put them into their storage bags
Take the nets down
Remove the volleyball poles
Place the poles, nets, volleyball bags and ball carts in the PE Equipment Room (back left corner & back shelves)
Make sure the cover plates are installed over the volleyball pole sockets in the gym floor.
