SUBJECT: SELECT TEAMS
I.
STATEMENT
OF POLICY
1)
Select teams are allowed and
will be provided with equipment, uniforms, playing fields/court time and funds
at the discretion of the sport commissioner provided the select team abides by
the Bylaws and Policies of the CAC.
2) The CAC shall at all times retain the right to decide the league and level in which a select team shall participate. Allowing teams in the same age group to participate in leagues and/or levels of play which are directly competitive shall be avoided as much as possible.
3)
Youth recruiting will not be
tolerated. Teams shall be assembled by talent tryout as provided by CAC Policy
#92-4.
4)
Select teams shall be mostly comprised
of participants from within the Crofton community as defined in Section 1,
Paragraph C of the CAC Bylaws. Should this percentage present a fraction of a
participant, the number of Crofton based participants shall be rounded up. A lesser percentage of participation by community based
children may be allowed for just cause as determined by the sport commissioner,
in consultation with the CAC Board. The percentages for the age groups are as
follows: 10 and under: 75%; 12 and under: 70%; and all others 51%.
5)
All CAC sponsored teams,
including Select teams, shall be governed by all CAC By-Lays and Policies and shall
neither permit nor allow subordination to, restriction by, or significant
modification by the By-Laws and/or Policies of any other organization.
6)
No member of a select team
shall attend a disciplinary proceeding called by another league or organization
without the explicit permission of the CAC. The CAC reserves the right to
attend any and all disciplinary procedures lodged against any CAC team.
7)
No member of a select team
shall lodge or file a protest or appeal of a disciplinary decision brought by any
organization or league in which they participate without the explicit
permission of the CAC. In all cases the fee for any protest or appeal will be
paid by the CAC, however, the team involved may be required to reimburse the
CAC.
