
Safety
Guidelines
·
All unsafe conditions shall be reported to the Facilities
Manager, who in turn shall immediately notify John Sumpter to resolve the
issue(s) as quickly as possible.
·
Children under the age of 8 require a higher level of
supervision. Parents should either be
prepared to provide individual supervision or make arrangements with other
parents on the team to share this responsibility. In any event, there must be sufficient
parental involvement to ensure a ratio of no more than 4 children per adult.
·
Siblings shall not be left unattended during practices or
games.
·
Parents shall provide respective coach with home numbers and
cell phone numbers in case of an emergency.
·
Parents shall provide coaches with necessary information
regarding any health-related issues pertaining to their child(ren).
·
A three-hour per session maximum time limit for practices
shall be enforced.
·
If any of the below conditions are present, practices and
games shall be canceled immediately:
Visible lightning
Tornado warning c
Public Schools canceled
Thunder - 15
minute delay to monitor for lightning
Wet fields
(during games): commissioner/official to make decision
Wet fields
(during practices): commissioner/coaches to make decision
·
Further cancellations are based on the individual coaches’
preference.
·
Coaches shall notify parents of their responsibility to
provide water for their child(ren) during practices and games.
·
Commissioner (or designee) shall present to the Safety
Committee prior to the commencement of each season a detailed list of supplies
needed to restock the kits.
·
Commissioner (or designee) shall be responsible for
distribution to their respective coaches prior to the commencement of the
season.
·
Commissioner (or
designee) will be responsible for the collection of kits upon conclusion of
their respective season (concurrent with equipment return).
·
Coaches are required to have First Aid kits available on
site at all tryouts, practices and games.
·
If additional first aid supplies are needed during the
season, commissioners shall request such items through the Safety Committee at
410-721-9736 or 301-261-6666.
·
In the event a child does not feel well, she/he shall be
taken off the field/court and parent shall be notified immediately.
·
A coach shall, at no time, administer medication to any
child for any reason.
·
Any adult or coach administering first aid to a child with an
open wound shall always wear gloves for their protection as well as the child.
·
Any child with a bleeding or open wound shall not be allowed
to play a contact sport unless the wound is completely covered by a dressing.
·
911 shall be activated immediately with any injury which
appears serious, and immediately thereafter notify the parent (if absent).
·
No exposed jewelry, watches, necklaces, etc. during
practices and games.
·
Children are required to wear the necessary safety equipment
at all times.
·
In the event a coach feels a child is at risk for injury on
a specific team, the coach, parent and appropriate commissioner shall discuss
modification of placement.
·
Basic First Aid training and Coaches Clinic shall be
required prior to coaching.
·
Coaches are required to complete necessary documentation for
a background check prior to the first game of the season.
