Welcome to
Crofton
Girls Lacrosse
updated 2/19/2010
Lacrosse is one of
the fastest growing sports in the country. Crofton Girls’ Lacrosse
has grown so quickly in the past decade that we are now the third
largest lacrosse council in Anne Arundel County! We are proud of
the advancements we have made. Our program is dedicated to teaching
the game of lacrosse to girls from kindergarten through eighth grade
and promoting teamwork and sportsmanship to all involved. We
promise that you will have lots of fun while also learning the
techniques and strategies that make lacrosse such an exhilarating
sport!
REGISTRATION
For the 2010 season, we anticipate
even greater growth in the program and will make all attempts to
accommodate everyone. HOWEVER, we CANNOT GUARANTEE a roster spot
for every player as we need to keep team sizes at manageable levels
to ensure equal playing time. THEREFORE, please do not wait until
the last minute to register your daughter as she may be placed on a
wait list. REGISTRATION TAKES PLACE FROM JANUARY 1 THROUGH JANUARY
31, 2010.
ELIGIBILTY AND FEES
STICKLETTE:
(Kindergarten, first, and second graders): $60.00
Eligible players:
Grades K, 1, and 2. Girls born
from January – March
2002 have a choice: they may play Sticklette or Pee Wee.".
COUNTY COMPETITION
PEE WEE: (Third
and fourth graders): $90.00
This is the first level of
“county” play. Practices begin in early to mid-March and are held
at Crofton Middle School. You MUST BE 8 BY APRIL 1ST in
order to play Pee Wee. There is no checking at this level, and
scores are not recorded in this 8 v 8 format. The big change from
Sticklette is the addition of goalkeepers. Games are played on
various fields throughout the county (home games at Crofton Middle
School) on weekends with some games played during the week. The
focus will continue to be on skill building. Young ladies in 3rd
and 4th grades are eligible. Players born in 2002
(second graders) must have a January, February, or March birthday.
If this is you, the computer may not accept your registration, so
you should mail it in and it will be approved.
MIDGETS: (Fifth
and sixth graders): $90.00
The “Middies” play 12 v 12 around
the county on weekends and during the week. While the focus is
always on skill-building, this level is broken into three
divisions: A, B, and C. As such, players will be placed by
ability. There is modified (below the shoulder) stick checking at
this level. Athletes in 5th and 6th grade are
eligible. Attendance at more than 1 placement session is STRONGLY
RECOMMENDED.
JUNIORS: (Seventh
and eighth graders): $90.00
Full stick checking is allowed,
and teams are leveled by ability in 12 v 12 games played around the
county. As with the Middies, this level is broken into A, B, and C
divisions, and players will be placed by ability. Attendance at
more than 1 placement session is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.
SENIORS: (Ninth
through twelfth graders): We do not field Senior teams. If
your daughter is in high school and not playing for her high school
team, there IS a senior league in Anne Arundel County. For more
information, please go to:
www.glaaac.org
***A word about “playing up:”
Players may play up provided they attend ALL of the proper
placements, and the evaluators feel the athlete does not pose a
safety issue. Additionally, a player will not be moved up if they
will be taking a spot from a properly aged player. The ultimate
decision for players to play up rests with the Commissioner and the
evaluators.
EQUIPMENT
ALL players MUST have a girls
lacrosse stick (stringed, no mesh), goggles, and a mouthguard (may
NOT be attached to goggles and MUST NOT be white or clear). Cleats
are optional but strongly recommended. Uniform tops will be
provided in exchange for a $25 check made out to CAC and dated
06/01/10, which will be returned to you once the top is returned to
the coach at the end of the season. Kilts are $25.

Our past and future successes have
been a result of the time and dedication of our volunteers and the
quality of our coaches. Come on out and become your daughter’s
hero. The only prerequisite to becoming a coach is a positive
attitude and a fair disposition. We are striving to put 2-3 coaches
on each team. Learn as you go and find where you fit in. if you
would like to volunteer at any capacity, please contact the
Commissioner or indicate your desire to volunteer when registering
